Compare baggage allowance, change fee, refund rule, seat selection, meal needs and arrival time. If the trip may move, a slightly higher fare with flexible rules can be cheaper than paying to fix the cheapest ticket later.

Families should check the whole booking, not each ticket alone. A fare that looks good for one traveler may be awkward when bags, children and connection times are added.
