The Summer Road-Trip Car Check

Tyres, coolant, battery, insurance and roadside cover should be checked before the drive, not after the dashboard warning.

The Summer Road-Trip Car Check. Souk Weekly business.

A summer road trip should start before the engine does. Heat turns small car problems into expensive interruptions, so the checklist belongs at home, not on the hard shoulder.

What to check first

Check tyre pressure and tread, coolant, oil, battery health, air-conditioning, insurance status and roadside assistance. If the car is crossing a border, confirm whether insurance and breakdown cover follow the route.

Pack water, a phone charger, basic documents and a simple emergency kit. The point is not to prepare for every possible problem. It is to remove the obvious ones before they become urgent.

Book maintenance early

Workshops become busier as travel weeks approach. A small service booked early is cheaper than a repair arranged under pressure.
