Check the Energy Label Before the Appliance Deal

A lower sticker price can lose to higher running costs when refrigerators, washing machines and AC units are used every week.

Appliance deals should be judged in years, not only at checkout. A cheaper refrigerator, washing machine or AC unit can cost more if it uses more energy or lacks reliable support.

What to compare

Check the energy label, warranty, installation cost, delivery timing, dimensions and service support. Measure the space before buying, including doorways and ventilation gaps.

For frequently used appliances, running cost matters. The better deal may be the model with a higher price and lower monthly consumption.

Do the boring math

A good appliance purchase is boring in the best way: correct size, clear warranty, predictable running cost and no surprise installation problem.
