Check the Basket, Not the Promotion

A discount can still leave you with a higher bill if it pushes the wrong quantity, brand or delivery threshold.

Check the Basket, Not the Promotion. Souk Weekly business.

A promotion is not a saving until the whole basket is cheaper. That sounds obvious, but grocery apps and supermarket shelves are designed to make the discount feel like the decision.

Where the bill grows

The basket grows when shoppers chase minimum thresholds, buy more than they can use or switch to a promoted brand that is still more expensive than the normal choice. Delivery fees and substitutions can add another layer.

The better habit is to compare the final basket against a normal week, not against the advertised discount. If the total is higher and the extra items were not planned, the promotion did its job, not yours.

Use a repeat list

A saved essentials list is the easiest defense. Promotions can still be useful, but they should fit the list rather than rewrite it.
